Myself and some peeps were asked by MTV Base to talk about the top 10 MCs of 2010. Now, whether you define that by commercial or technical success, who knows, but Ghetts was NOT too happy to not be included.

I'm not too happy that he didn't go in on us more. I was expecting at least one suck ya mama....

Oh well.

Ghetts, you're an amazing MC, it's why I've written about you countless times. But the people on the list are, for the most part (I tried to argue Chipmunk up higher and also Kano), deserved.

It's all just opinion innit. In the full length footage, Wretch was given the nod for smashing it in 2011, as were the Sways', Ghetts, Griminal etc who had a relatively quiet year in comparison to the 10 mentioned. For me, it's an accumulation of cultural impact, skill and commercial success, that's the way I approached this list. It ain't science though, is it?

My main beef with this list was that there wasn't one single female on it. Again, I think that's fair enough. There's some amazing girls out there, but none that had the impact in 2010 that those dudes did. Looking forward to seeing Lioness, Roxxx, Leshurr, Bratt, A Dot, Blue and so on, change that in 2011.

I am loving the concept of Rock The Belles, a collective that will be bringing together the hottest female DJs, bands, designers and creatives for a genre-defying monthly celebration of the girls who are making their mark on the music industry. (Sidebar: yes I know Girlcore have done it for a while, but I like that someone else is doing it too. More the merrier innit).

The first sesh is on 28 Jan at the East Village in east London (closest tube is Old St fyi) and features (deep breath) Little Boots, Yasmin, DJ Kayper and DJ Nikki Beatnik. There will also be nail art courtesy of my favourite manicurists Wah Nails, as well as a pop up photo shoot, DJ battles, performance artists and a host of amazing live acts. Vice will be running competitions in the run up to this event so keep checking their site.

By now I’m guessing that you all have heard about my recent relocation to the bing, which is punitive segregation. Basically, no T.V., no radio, no snacks/junkfood, and one phone call a week. This punishment has been handed to me for my earlier MP3 incident. I admit, I fu#ked up and now I must deal with the consequences. As I write this, I only have 25 days left, and it’ll be even less than that when you read this. So honestly, I’m fine. Obviously, this gives me a lot of time to myself and a lot of alone time with my thoughts, which can be creatively dangerous. I do miss being able to hear from my family everyday but once a week will have to suffice. To them, I apologize. I’m still able to receive mail so reading and responding is still a huge part of my day. I’d like to thank everyone that sent me B-Day cards and wishes… that was terrific. You all are wonderful, simply wonderful.

Well anyways, I just wanted you all to know that I’m good and I’ll be good! But at the end of the day, I did it all for music!!! By the way, thanx for downloading the I Am Not A Human Beingalbum. So I kind of had a personal performance from Edei earlier this afternoon and I have to say she took my breath away a bit.

She's one of those artists that you really have to see live to fully appreciate what she's about.

This is the next single, Loved. I hope you can see how much it is - the harmonies were emoesh, particularly on Got Me By The Heat. I think I got a bit of dust in my eye at one point.
