Straight Outta Bethnal - Highlights

Originally uploaded by hattiec2.
Some beautiful grime was made at 333 last Friday. Shouts to the Fiddy for pulling it off again. Pix to follow when I clear some space on the old iPhotos. Here's a couple of highlights...

1. Wiley dropping his WD25 (aka my tune of Barbados) lyrics - 'I eat lamb curry and roti/ I'm a war emcee they can all quote me/ And I might punch you in the boaty/ When you get up everything seems floaty." Zup-zup-zup...
2. Logan re-re-reloading the Cam'Ron Jay Z diss that excited Skepta so much he looked like he might drop his pants at any second. On a Cam note - the track has attracted mixed reactions and while it's not an Ether or Hit Em Up or Takeover, there is some amount of murkery occuring. Even funnier is the He's A Biter track where Cam lists all the lyrics than Jigga has 'borrowed' from Biggie to Snoop, Pac to Slick Rick.
3. Wiley, Scorcher, Jammer, Flowdan, Kronik, Skepta, Fender, Bearman getting reloads.
4. Skepta's bowler hat.
5. Logan and Maxi Priests tune selection.
6. Flowdan teling off Target for reloading too quickly 'give mans a chance' he huffed.
7. The much exciteable moshin pon stage.
8. Overhearing three girls talking in the toilets about how glad they came because they had been worried about getting murked for what they were wearing. The conclusion was that 'grime was for everyone, not just grime kids.' Seeing same three girls down the front all night blazing gun-finger and looking like they were loving every minute.
9. Leaving about 3 and seeing my bike hadn't been robbed. Result.
10. Getting enough lyrics to last me until at least the next one (check Fiddy's blog to find out exact date tbc in the next few days).
One minus was the plethora of wastemen hogging the mike but having absolutely no lyrics to back it up. You know who you are. When the crowd stares at you blankly, then is the time you might want to think about passing the mike to Scorcher and getting off the gottdamn mike. Feel the air on your face and make like a tree (and, er, leave...sorry..old-skool joke).

There were a couple of other dudes, who I don't know, that were getting air but not getting off the mike. They def weren't booked to play but if you are going to get up and do lyrics at least pass the mic when you can see a sea of eyes staring and no hands waving,
