The King Of The South came to London town last week to play peeps a selection of cuts from his forthcoming album. Despite facing your usual stush London crowd, Tip talked through 12 tracks that may, or may not make the next record. Ones that likely will make the final mix though are the b-b-b-banging Why You Wanna Do That featuring a Cystal Waters sample and produced by K-O; the Keith Mack produced I Told You So which re-ups his position as the South's sovereign and the simple but starl Make You Sweat, a Led Zep sampling paeon to street life that Tip insisted on re-loading and politely requesting people quiet their conversations and listen to the words. "I shed tears writing that song, real talk," said the ATLer. The one track I wasn't feeling too much was the Neptunes track - standard Pharrell croon, crunk keys yada yada.
Overall though, there was a good six solid songs that will make the record one to watch for when it drops.
Also so cool to get a Southern spitter both in the UK and to hear some music more than a week before the album drops.
