Erykan Badu: The Return
Fresh from having a baby with that dude whose name I can't remember, Ms. Badu is back with the next part of New Amerykah.
Story: I once got in a lift with Erykah. It was at the Paramount Hotel in New York and I'd just interviewed Alicia Keys. Me and Russell Myrie just stared at her until she swept out in her gold 6 foot high (approx) headwrap and then Russell mumbled something. She turned round, fixed us with a stare said "Thank you", smiled, and left.
Amazing.
Feel to go burn a jostick right now. And I friggin hate josticks.
Track Listing for New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh, below, and here's what Ms. Badu had to say about the album at a playback in New York this week:
"I called it 'Part II: The Return of the Ankh' because this album is the sister of the left side of my brain -- it is the right sid. Part I was the left side of my thoughts -- it was more socially political and my thought process was more analytical. This time there wasn't anything to be concerned with -- the album is more emotional and flowy and talks about feelings. It reminds of the days of 'Baduizm' -- this is just about beats and rhymes in a cipher."
