Yeah, agreed. Have interviewed him twice and it's like trying to bottle smoke. I think mainly this is because he's genuinely one of those people who works on instinct and doesn't think too hard about anything - certainly, he doesn't have any interest in discussing why or how he makes music that sounds the way it does. He stops short of seeming surprised by his own art - his ego won't allow him to go that far - but he definitely isn't given to analysing his MO, at least, not in public.
