Shouts to Sarah and Sally Edwards for putting on a big-ass event at swanky Sketch last night. Held in conjunction with M:Robe, which is a digi camera that you can put music to (do I get one free for the plug?), the Blag Mag girls hauled in the cream of US hip hop. Hosted by Chuck D - that's right - Ch-Chuck D, the still-keeping-it Public Enemy No 1 introduced a mixed crowd of music heads, fashion types and regular ole people to the delights of Chicago rhymesmith Common and spinner-supreme Stretch Armstrong.
Not only free cocktails on tap, but some rather ace music from Common, dancing by three dudes and a nice crowd of people. Check out Blag magazine (Beasties on the new cover) at www.blagmagazine.com and all good shops near you.
Common's new album, Be, is sounding p-hat by the way..dropping in May, so listen out for it. You can hear first single The Corners, featuring The Lost Poets and Kanyizzle on the boards at www.hiphopgame.com which in general has a fine selection of bootlegs, b-sides, freestyles, remixes, leaked tracks on offer.
