Roots Manouevres Live Set Brilliantly

Was in the home of the original Dons, Cambridge, last night to interview the rather ace 'singer who sorta spits' M.I.A, who along with Philly spinner Diplo was supporting Mr Manuva. Stook around to catch the last half of the show and was oh-so pleased I did. While a confessed US hip hop head I tend to be, Rodney's show was one not to be missed regardless of yor musical tastes. Less hip hop, more just good ole' music, he had the crowd chanting 'Splendid' and other such non-rap talk, prior to breaking out the delightful Dreamy Days. Ignoring the pleading chants for his biggest tune, Manuva made a muttered apology about being unable to do Witness, 'sorry, no time' and left the stage. He but jested of course, the track was duly blasted and those crazy cambridge kids got damn near crunk, ifyaknowhatimean. See how a UK artist with a fraction of the budget of a US one manages to tour with a LIVE BAND - Luda, Nas and co, take note. I know it's all about 'keeping it in the essence', two turntables and a microphone - but, live, unless you're in a tiny club, it sounds arse. Anyway, back to Rodders - go get the new album Awfully Deep and while you're there pick up Run Come Save Me too - you know it makes sense. Watch out too for Ms M.I.A, her album Aruler should, fingers crossed, be dropping soon-ish. Her music is utterly bugged out, bashment-based electro-fied hip hop rock, but free ya mind and ya ass will follow. Would post a pic but my IPictures is knackered for some technical reason known only to itself and Mr Mac, who I should call, when I have the cash for the ONE POUND FIFTY A MINUTE helpline.
