One of Soho's best hip hop shops Deal Real has teamed with corperate giants EA games to do a national MC battle. Final is at the shop on November 19th and should be big - the London regioal final was (supposed) to be great - David Banner blew the house down. And, yes, I missed it. Gutted. And more gutted cos the Kano show, at which he was supporting, was also cancelled by the Met because of alleged safety concerns. Are they real worries, or is this a case of the feds trying to shut down shop like they did with garage. Having been to a fair few grime raves, and even put one on with Fiddy, I've never seen a whiff of trouble - besides very occasioanal drunken end-of-night fights that you get in any club, with any music up and down the country because English people are F'ing twats when it comes to booze and can't control themselves. Be interesting to see how the next few months go when it comes to live shows and to see just how many more nights are cancelled because the police think there wil be shootings and/ or violence....Sorry, got right off subject there. Anyway, as well as the MC comp, there;s also a double decker bus touring the country complete with decks and mixers for budding producers to go along and try their hand. The next London one is at 93 Feet East next month. might even go down there meself and learn, finally, how to mix!
