Went to a screening of the much-touted Hustle & Flow flick and was pleasantly surprised. Was expecing to see Lil Jon, strip clubs and crunk juice aplenty, but instead this was a semi-arty, pretty deep and really well made drama. Telling the stuggle of one pimp's struggle to make moves in the rap game, Terrence Blanchard was seriously great as was Taraji Henson tho have seen Luda act better elsewhere. Despite being a little cheesy in places (tho I'm a sucker for fromage I admit), occasionally contrived and not entirely realistic - but then that's what films are for - I really enjoyed this flick and would hugly, higly reccomend watching it when it comes out later this month. Haven't been to the cinema since, ahem, Coach Carter as life has been moving a little hecticly this year, but for anyone that hasn't gone to see a movie in a minute I also advise grabbing some popcorn and a bag of Malteasers (standard) and heading for a lovely two hours of solitude and escapism. Works wonders, I tell thee.
