Went to Odeon West End, Leicester Sq last night to see the new documentary, Rize, directed by David LaChappelle, the man behind videos for Christina Aguilera and Madonna, iconic pictures of Tupac and Lil Kim and ad campaigns for Diesel. The film is the most energetic, moving documentary I've seen this year. It's not a new thing, but there's a dance coming out of South Central called Krumping. A combination of clowning, strip moves, caporeira, breaking and it's own style added in. In fact, its style evolves on a daily basic. Anyway, seriously, please try and catch this when it's out next week. DLC tells the story so simply but so effectively that you can't help but want to jump around the room and try out some moves and jump on a plane straight away to go and see it for yourself live and direct in Compton. Brilliant. Oh and Dizzee gets a play in there - tho they spelt his name wrong in the credits.
