A Word About Those Tracks

So DaVinChe is, to my mind, one of the finest UK producers - in fact F That, give him a year or two and he could just be one of the finest producers period. His 'Dirty Canvas' CD featuring new and a few old instrumentals displays his ear for the innovative and instinct for a fierce beat. If I were a rapper, I'd wear this CD out as practise for both 16s and hook-writing. I chose 'Misty Blue' just cos I love that tune - if anyone saw Mary J Blige sing it live that time on Jools Holland a couple of years back, then you'll agree that, sung right (ie by MJB), it's a bona fide soul classic.
Kartel's 'Emergency' is another no-brainer for me. Though there's loads of massive deejays on this 'riddim' (always feel a bit weird writing that word), Kartel is my absolute favourite - witty, bright and with a wicked flow, I still don't think newcomers like Assassin are close to catching up with Kartel. Watch for the new album dropping December, apparently.
Finally Free Lil Kim - 'Lighters Up' has been around for more than a minute and would have actually liked to have got 'Woah' or 'Spelling Bee' up there, but couldn't find any clips. So this is a Damien Marley-derivitive, Lauren Hill soundalike style that Foxy has been doing for years? I don't give a poop, it's still firrrure! Long live Lil Kimmle and long may she reign supreme.
