50’s album might have sucked (bar the piggy Bank beat and a couple of tracks round the 09-13 mark) but I was impressed with the film GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN'. So, he doesn't act too much, but it was dark and engaging enough. Little too violent in places, thanks, and not really sure what the purpose of the naked shower scene was - but hey, nice butt Fiddy.
I also really loved RIZE, which is out now (check out RWD for a piece on LaChappelle and the film). Wasn't sure what to expect from HUSTLE & FLOW but, damn, was I pleasently surprised. Excellent performances, well directed and just the right amount of fromage to stop in being too grimy. But don't you know, it’s hard for a pimp on these streets…Saw a preview of JARHEAD (Jake Gyllenhall, Jamie Foxx) a somewhat futile film about the, er, futility of war coming to a cinema near you soon and finally managed to see HARRY POTTER and NARNIA with my younger brother over Christmas. Potter wins, I'm afraid. STAR WARS sucked until about 23 minutes before the end, never got to see CRASH but loved SIDEWAYS and also rated (tho not sure they def were this year) the brilliant BULLET BOY and HOTEL RWANDA.
