Just wanted to 'shout out' Sir Cipha Sounds, host of Hot 97, Sirius radio shows, A&R at Roc La Familia and CEO of Jack Moves...for getting Skepta, Jammer and Plasticman up on his show two fridays back. When I met him at the Summit, he told me how into the scene he was, (he used to come over and rave when So Solid just started out, so he knows a thing or two about UK music) and that he wanted to support Grime as much as possible. He was one of, if not the first, US DJ to play POW last year. Anyway, good to his word, he's been playing tracks I sent over and as soon as I mentioned those guys were in the Big Apple, he hooked it up immediately. Checked out the MP3's he sent of the show and they're most amusing - some American ringing up like 'what the fuck is murkle, man?', Cipha's co-host pointing out she used to 'neckle' when she was younger, Skepta talking about the 'stupid' buildings and Jammer pointing out he'd only had 40 mins sleep so was a bit 'tired.' Not sure how you can get to hear the show, suffice to say, it's on Sirius Satellite so maybe via online? Anyway, thanks again to Cipha for the support!
