New Kano Mixtape: MC No. 1 Out Today
Not sure whether Dan
or Raj posted this on the RWD website, but here's their words on Kane's new mixtape, dropping today. As I shalt be in town today (Mon) cos I'm on Max's 1xtra show around 3pm, I shall go forthwith to Uptown and purchase...
Anyway, over to Kapone/ Walks (going on style, I'll hedge a bet it's Walkstains):
Following up Beats + Bars and The Mixtape, Kano releases his eagerly awaited third mixtape MC No.1 tomorrow. Of course we use the term ‘eagerly awaited’ in the loosest sense considering it was only a few days ago that we found out this was coming out, but hey, new music from Kano is always eagerly anticipated.
The underground release will predominantly feature hip hop freestyles such as Kane’s versions of P*ssyole (Old School) by Dizzee Rascal, I’m So Hood by DJ Khaled and Way I Are by Timbaland, as well as elements of dancehall, garage and grime. Also included will be a snippet of an all new track entitled Hustler which is lifted from KA’s upcoming album 140 Grime Street.
The album will be the first commercial project released independently since the E6 spitter parted with 679/Warners and sees Kano shake loose any label shackles and return to his pirate radio roots. The grimy LP will definitely include production from Skepta, Mikey J and DaVinChe, as well as possible contributions from Rapid and Maniac, and we hope a long overdue collaboration with old cohort Ghetto.
Appearing on Tim Westwood’s Radio 1 show on Saturday night alongside DJ Bionix (who also appears to be Kano’s new business partner) Mr. Robinson also revealed he is looking to put out a collaboration LP called LDN which will see the London Town MC team up with the capital’s finest citing man of the moment; Gigs as someone he would like to link up with.
