RWD ABC: 145% Growth Biotches...

Thanks to CMU: Daily and Record of the Dayfor reporting on RWD's recent ABC murkery. The ABC's are basically the only official way of certifying how may copies a magazine prints. Last year, we were doing around 30,000, but thanks to both investment and some great partnerships, we're now publishing just under 80,000. Available in Foot Locker this has opened up our readership a whole hell of a lot. You can even get RWD in Foot Locker in Europe apparently. Get in there fast though; apparently copies only stay in the shop for a couple of days before selling out. Well, not selling....

Of course, RWD are basically ignored when it comes to mainstream coverage. It's pretty frustrating when broadsheet titles (some of whom I even write for!!!) completely ignores us. Wonder why that is? Cos we're free? Cos we're 'urban'? The fact we've got twice as many readers as the NME, whose circulation has declined, makes us of interest, surely?

Oh well...

The next one - with Cassette Playa on the cover (excited much!!) - is out this week.

The delicious irony here is RWD have been ignoring hundreds of legitimate acts for years, either because they can't afford to be in your advertorial or haven't made it into the clique / dated one of your lead journo's.

So maybe that's just Karma and now you are getting a taste of your own medicine. You guys should maybe have a think about having a least a modicum of editorial integrity OR alternatively having the words 'advertorial magazine'emblazened across the cover.

Besides, giving away lots of free magazines consisting entirely of adverts isn't exactly news now is it?
