I Call BS...

There's no way they'd get rid of Moyles for at least a couple more years. No doubt they will be bringing in Reggie more and more....

From The Sun...

RADIO 1 bosses reckon some of their DJs are too old for their listeners — and are looking at a batch of rising young stars.
Station bosses privately admit their best-loved presenters — like breakfast show DJ Chris Moyles — are no longer in the same age group as their listeners.

Radio 1 aims to pull in fans aged between 15 to 24. But Chris has just turned 35. Many of his production team, who take part in the show, are also in their early thirties.

Mum-of-four Jo Whiley, who hosts a daytime show, is 43, while weekend host Sara Cox is 34.

Radio 1 chiefs are believed to be keen on rising star Reggie Yates.

The 25-year-old co-hosts the Sunday chart show with Fearne Cotton, 27.

Bosses have also given trendy newcomer Nick Grimshaw, 24, the weekend breakfast show.

Moyles — currently puffing his way up Mount Kilimanjaro with a host of celebs for Comic Relief — still pulls in 7.3million listeners every day, which puts him just behind Radio 2 King Terry Wogan who has 7.9million.

But an insider said: “Moyles is the saviour of Radio 1 but the station has to look to the future.”

Another radio source said: “The breakfast show has to target our key listeners and lock them in for the day. Moyles has been on Radio 1 for 12 years and has hosted the breakfast show for five.

“What we have seen with Moyles is his listeners have grown up with him and are getting older.

“Now we need a younger crowd.”
