More Source Stupidity

A huge shout out to Elizabeth Mendez Berry, Joan Morgan and Jeff Chang for their online petition against Benzino and Dave Mays of the Source magazine. As you may have read on www.allhiphop.com Benzino responded to former editor Kim Osario's claims of sexual harassment while working at the Source magazine with counter-claims that she had sleep with a number of rappers. Anyone with a GCSE in home economics can see that is far from the point. So, what, because you've allegedly slept with people you can't possibly have been sexually harassed? Or maybe, I don't know, you deserved it? Wow, nice guy. Whether she has or hasn't is utterly irrelevant to the issue and as the petition points out " the notion that Osario's sexual history, real or imagined has any bearing on whether or not her claims are legitimate is ludicrous." The petition points out that female journalists already have a tough time as it is to disprove the notion that we only get into writing cos we want to sleep with rappers - please! does no one else see how butters 80% of them are and as for THEIR sexual history?
The petitions call on Benzino to make good on his resignation - or else have the Source owners demand it off him.
A large number of people have signed the petition - I was number 415 I believe, but if you feel strongly or just want to read for yourself what it's about go check out
