Braps to the big man Ekow Eshun. Not only a former editor of Arena, a regular contributor to Front Row and the creative director of the ICA, Mr Eshun has gone and written himself a book. He read a little bit at a shindig for the book last night, and it prompted me to go buy the darned thing right there and then. I've only just started reading it, but I'm totally hooked. As Ekow’s editor, who introduced him said, this isn't just a book for people who are from Africa that now live in England, it's for anyone who ever wanted to know more about the place they’re from way back when. You go 'home' expecting to find answers to all those questions, but you end up just opening up more avenues of though. Went I went back to Limerick with my fam, it was mad interesting but it made me want to know more about my past relations, you know? Anyway, Ekow puts it better, so go and get the book 'Black Gold of the Sun' available in all good book shops now.
