On Da Reggae Tip...!

I first went to this night a couple of years ago and it was amazing. Hot 97 basically put on a night featuring the hottest dancehall artists - inevitably a few local stars turn up to...

Highlights include Buju Banton's spider-trapped in its own web manic set, Tony Matterhorn's dutty-dutty performance, the arrival of Uncle Murda during Mavado's set and, of course, Elephant 'Captain Hook' Man's ubiquitous show-stopper, featuring Chris Brown, Alison Hinds, Swizz Beats and Assassin.

On the down side, Busta was his usually 'charming' self, grunting a 'no' to pictures (of course, I took one anyway seeing as everyone else was) and Chris Brown's arsehole minder - luckily the man/boy himself was as sweet as a Tootsie Roll.

Here's some pictures:

You know when an act talks from backstage? Well, that's what they look like...

Sorry, but he's SO cute!

The Energy God gets a little glue for his beard

Captain Hook prepares to take the stage

Mr Marley paces up and down before going on to perform Iron, Lion, Zion

Had Swizzy known that in approximately 14 minutes time Elephant Man would literally throw him offstage into the rabid crowd, would he be smiling? Maybe not...

Swizzy again: very nice bloke. Oh and he had a 'great' time in London, apparently.

Tony Matterhorn catches Elephant Man's show. The Dutty Wine DJ did a pretty great set of his own.

Is Brooklyn in the house? It is now, as Uncle Murda reps with 'Bullet, Bullet.'

Bus and Van (geddit) catch up backstage. Van Gibbs is a man with an amazing past; from working with Aretha to Gloria Gaynor, to Funk Flex and Alison Hinds, he also found time to father Salaam Remi...

Welcome To Jamrock...
