Yelawolf: The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Basically, 2011 is Yela's time...

Michael Wayne Atha has already had quite the life; from living homeless in People's Park, California, to semi-pro skateboarder before a shortlived deal with Columbia Records in 2007, this Alabama born man of Cherokee descent became one of hip hop's hottest rhymers during 2010. Causing an A&R rubgy scrum at SBSW, he's since been shouted out by Eminem, worked with Big Boi and appeared on Paul Wall's Live It with Jay Electronica and Raekwon. His recently re-released mixtape, features Gucci, Bun B and Rae with production by Jim Jonsin and Drumma Boy showcasing Yela as a tattooed up, trailer-park skater who stands far apart from Bubba Sparxxx, Em, Asher Roth and Outkast. Pop The Trunk has shadows of Shady in terms of intricate storytelling and morbid metaphors, but Wolf also gets his gangsta on with Gucc on . He's also got a little Twista to him - dude can flow really, really fast. Alongside Wiz Khalifa, I'm mighty excited for Yelawolf's debut, due early 2011. Twitter.com/yelawolf
